Becoming a Certified Management Consultant

Applicable to all individual members eligible for CMC process

We are glad to inform you that we are now putting the next CMC Process (CMC XVIII) in place, which enables consultants to use the reciprocally recognized global designation of CMC® (Certified Management Consultant®). The CMC® is now internationally recognized by over 50 members of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes.

You are aware that this process takes place in two phases. In the first phase, you are required to answer one written paper of two hours duration in open book exam format. Sample papers of the past years will be available with your chapter subcommittee member mentioned below.

Once you clear the CMC® you will be entitled to use it for a period of 3 years after which a very brief and simple re-accreditation process will be needed every three years. This is subject to your membership of IMCI remaining valid.

The phase I & II (written paper & Presentation) is being scheduled for Saturday, 20th August 2016 with one paper from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. In the second phase, you will be required to present to a panel any one consulting assignment undertaken by you in the recent past. The panel, to which you will be presenting, will interview you after this presentation. You will also require obtaining a referral from at least two clients in the format enclosed. Clearing both the phases will lead to the award of the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) ®.

In case you are interested, please do block this date in your diary and begin your preparation process.

For your convenience, at each chapter we are appointing one member on the CMC Subcommittee who will coordinate the effort at your end. In the case of your Chapter, the name of the subcommittee member is awaited and will be communicated to you in due course. In the meantime, you may seek support for all your queries from the IMCI H.O.

The attached Annexure gives the syllabus and references that will be enable you to start preparing yourself for this CMC Process. Please do go through in detail and feel free to seek any clarification from us.

We would also like to inform you that there is now a provision for us to award the CMC through a separate process for very senior consultants. The criteria are as follows:

1)  Should be member in good standing.

2)  Should be as an Individual member of IMCI.

3)  Should be 50 years of age and have 15 years as full time consultants independently or with   consulting companies.

4)  Should be 60 years of age and have 10 years as full time consultants independently or with consulting companies.

This amendment enables senior members to be exempt from written examination (Phase 1).  However, they need to register for the CMC Process consisting of submission of details in the format attached (Annexure A) and undergoing Phase 2 described above. The information submitted by Senior Consultants is subject to a review by a CMC Committee before approval is granted to appear for this Process.

In case you need any further information please feel free to write to us.
